Managers deal with artists and/or songwriters and advise you on all business and creative aspects of your career while you're busy making music. Good managers continously network and liaise with anyone involved in your career. They are also organised and dedicated in order to rise you to the top. They shouldn't ask for any advance to find you a record/publishing deal but once they find it they usually get a % of your advance. They usually take from 10 to 20% of your gross earnings.

Music Managers Forum The MMF was formed in 1992 to represent the interests of music managers. It now runs comprehensive training courses throughout the country and has international chapters across the Globe.

International Music Manager's Forum The IMMF represents the worldwide community of music managers at the international level. Their web site provides links to the international offices.

International Artist Manager's Association The leading worldwide association for classical music artist managers and concert agents. They also org anise annual conferences.
